Most professional services businesses will already have an accountant unless it is a new company. There are a couple of things to look out for:

Firstly, the question arises: ' When is the best time in your financial year to change to an accountant?’ Ideally, you would do a clean cut-off at the end of a financial year. That makes the transition a lot easier and gives your existing accountant a chance to finish off all of the year-end accounts they've been compiling.

The process is relatively simple. We will speak to your existing accountant and get all of the handover documents from them. Then we must do various client checks such as money laundering checks and upload your passport and proof of address. The processes are very straightforward. 

At Nutshell accounts, we use Xero for all of our clients. If you are changing to an accounting system other than Xero, this is much more difficult for us. We use Xero because it is the system we find the most user-friendly and efficient.
